Back to the grindstone
Back to work today. I decided to get to work on one of the two short stories that I wanted to rework for potential markets. I figured it was easier and gentler to work on something short, rather than getting stuck into a novel right away.
Today’s stats:
Words: 1,046 on Narthex.
Word count: 1,046 of approximately 5,000.
The writing actually went pretty smoothly. I spent a lot of time cleaning the house this morning. I’m used to cleaning a place with about a third of the floor space, so it’s taking a bit of adjusting for me to get used to having to spend more time. Energy levels were good, even after this, which was a bonus.
I had been worried that I’d be stuck sitting staring at a blank page, but the words flowed smoothly. I managed to rework the opening of Narthex to a point where I was quite pleased with it. I’m still worried that it might open a little slow, but that will take more thought.
I did get distracted this afternoon, and ended up being sociable. My sister is flying back to the UK tomorrow, so I wanted to catch up with her before she left.
