Thought and Memory

New words: 2,701

Total words: 31,564

Listening/watching: X-Files.

Total words for the year: 69,226

I’m getting into a strange place with the writing. I’m still taking weekends off, but I’m finding that I’m wanting to write during them. I would have written yesterday, but I was exhausted, and so I did a lot of reading instead. Which is filling up the word bank, which is almost as good as writing. I suspect that the desire to write wouldn’t have been enough to have produced good words, anyway. But it’s a good sign.

The bad thing is that not only do I have this WIP (which has now risen to above the 30k mark - yay!), and Reqiuem knocking around my head, I also have another work deciding to stand up and demand some control. This is Daemon, which is a sequel to Shaede, the novel I have with an agent at the moment. I have to keep telling myself that there’s no use in working on it unless I sell Shaede, and there is interest in a sequel. I suspect that I’ll be working on it again at some stage, though. At least I have a full first draft of Daemon written. And a vague outline for a third book.

If I ever needed to doubt it, I have ample evidence there that I’m cut out for novel writing, and not shorts. My stories end up being too much for a single book, let alone anything shorter. Even Thought and Memory has a potential sequel of kinds.
