The doorway into Never

This morning, while doing housework, I discovered the doorway into Never.

I’d previously been planning to write Never with two protagonists, their paths entwining and crossing through the book.  This morning, I realised that Never is the story of one of them alone.

The other character, I’m going to have to wait to find his book.  I’ll find it, I know.  He’s a waiting presence.

But for now, I have my doorway.  And I have a first line:  “What are you?”
