White Raven progress
Jun. 17th, 2009 03:24 pmToday’s progress:
Project: White Raven draft one
New words: 3,061
Total words: 89,444
Goal: 100k
Writing:
These last chapters are seriously borked. In fact, the whole book is pretty broken right now. The good news is that I have a really good idea about how to start fixing it. It’s killing me not to start on edits, but I’m forcing myself to write some kind of an ending before I start that. The ending sucks like whoa, but hey, it’s something to work with.
I’m going to do an experiment with my edits and actually use this first draft to outline. Which is kind of backwards. I plan on using the snowflake method – has anyone had experience with it?
I’d really like to become a writer who outlines, mostly because I use a lot of time wandering around through first drafts. And while I can churn out the draft on a good day, it doesn’t always feel like the most productive thing in the world.
Real life:
Went for a walk this morning, which was much needed. I really need to set aside time every day as part of my routine to go for a walk or do exercise. I usually get some kind of activity in at least three times a week, but it doesn’t feel like enough right now.
Now I need to work on some review work. And deal with the fact that my routine is going to be thrown out tomorrow by an ill-timed doctor’s appointment. Damn specialists with their tight schedules. Hopefully I can still manage to get my writing in. I’d really like to get this draft finished this week if possible.
