New words: 2,880
Total words: 51,064
Goal: 100k
Writing:
Look at that – over 50k!.
My end word count for this draft is very much a guess right now. I’m definitely somewhere in the middle of the story, just not sure how much more of it there is to go. Somewhere around the 90-100k mark, though I think.
Still feeling generally pretty happy with this draft. I’m trying to do some vague outlining of the last half of the book, but it’s very, very vague right now. I have my very last scene in my head, just need to figure out what needs to happen to get there. Which you can interpret very much as reading: yes, I am going to probably ditch vast chunks of the first draft from here on in.
Real life:
Grocery shopping. Walk already accomplished today, which felt like I was dragging myself through molasses. I’ve had some really high energy days this week and have probably pushed myself a little bit too much, so it’s probably to be expected, pretty much. Especially since I slept badly last night, too.
It’s been raining almost solidly all afternoon, making me very glad that I walked this morning and didn’t have to try to time it this afternoon. Unfortunately, I think tomorrow’s weather will be similar, so I don’t know if I’m going to be able to walk without getting drenched. Oh well, there are worse things.
Beauty:
Look, a new category! I’ve seen a few other writers who take note of daily things of beauty, and liked the idea.
Today: walking through the stormy morning, the sky heavy with unshed rain, the wind in my hair. The world scrubbed clean, fertile and green.
