azhure: (dreaming tree)

This morning, winter dawned.  Outside, the sky is flat grey and the wind is spinning around the house.  Earlier, it was raining – true, hard, constant rain, but now there is only the portent of rain in the air.

And yes, there are still idiots with their sprinklers on.  I don’t think they know the meaning of very long drought.  I doubt very much that we’ll get enough rain this winter to refill our dams to the point where we can have a comfortable summer.  Certainly, a few good showers of rain don’t give you a free pass to waste water.

Yesterday was very much a wasted day.  I did get some research done – on Tasmania this time – but spent most of my prime writing time waiting for a technician to come to the house.  For some reason, I can’t settle down to work well when I’m expecting someone.  I hardly got any reading done, but I did pick up Octavia Butler’s Lilith’s Brood, which I’m reading for the Women of SF book club.  Didn’t get any decluttering done, either.

Today may not be much better.  With the advent of Weather, I woke with high pain levels.  Painkillers have been consumed, but I don’t know how much they’re going to do.  They’ll take the edge off the pain, certainly, but they also add to brain fuzziness.  There’s no winning, really.  But I shall endeavour to continue with research, at the least.
