Writing lessons from Doctor Who and Torchwood

Over the weekend, we watched the season finale of Torchwood and the latest episode – “The Girl Who Waited” of the current season of Doctor Who.

I am a massive fan of both shows, but I find myself having to rant about several things to do with the writing.  All things that I think beginning writers need to pay attention to (and all things that I’ve seen many times in slush reading).
