Total words: 7,092
Reason for stopping: End of scene.
Exercise: Walked to and from the post office again. Around 20 minutes walking in total.
Fun stuff: A secondary character just appeared from nowhere while I was writing. That reception desk was supposed to be empty. Waiting to see what she’s going to do.
Interesting stuff: This is Aidan’s first chapter. Have discovered that he’s a heroin addict.
Other work: Nothing yet. Managed some work on a review last night, will try to get some more done today.
Reading: American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Finished it today.
The glamourous life of a writer: As yesterday was like pulling teeth, today the words flowed smoothly. Go figure.
Aidan was originally intended to be a regular guy working a very boring job in a very unfair world. He decided that was a bit too boring, and decided to become a heroin addict instead. His way of ingesting his drug of choice – chasing the dragon, inhaling heroin smoke.
I love this point, where the characters take on life of their own. I didn’t decide to make Aidan an addict, he just came that way. He’s very thin, emaciated almost and very, very vague. I have no idea how this is going to integrate into the story. I guess he’ll tell me.
His songs so far – all by Placebo – My Sweet Prince, The Crawl, Peeping Tom, and their covers Holocaust and Running Up That Hill.
