To think, perhaps
Jul. 10th, 2008 05:04 pmI’m still feeling somewhat ordinary today, though better than I have been for most of the week. The migraine that’s been hovering for a few days has finally vanished completely, for which I am immensely grateful.
Unfortunately, perhaps due to post-migraine weirdness, I found myself almost completely unable to sit down and work properly today. I messed around for most of the afternoon with a flashback scene that I ended up scrapping completely. Sigh. I liked it, but it really wasn’t useful and it was just breaking the flow of things. Such is writing. For the record, it was about a thousand words long, so I essentially wrote three thousand words but only kept two thirds of them.
Today’s progress:
Project: Shaede draft four
New words: 2,089
Total word count: 5,225
Goal: 100,000 words (or thereabouts)
Writing: Flashback scenes, while fun, tend to break up the writing narrative. Writing tics are killing me. In fact, pretty much everything about this manuscript is killing me right now. I guess that means that I’ve learned something in the last year or so.
Real life: Things accomplished today - grocery shopping, laundry (which necessitated a mad dash outside mid-afternoon to rescue mostly dry clothes from the rain). Too much wandering about looking at Wikipedia.
Total words for 2008: 272,169
