Stars, I have seen them fall
Jul. 14th, 2008 04:40 pmToday was a day of mostly taking care of the house, with some writing added in (or so it felt). Some days just end up like that, I guess.
I did get a decent word count, but I would have liked it to have been higher. I was messing about with stuff that got me a bit bogged down. I’m still hashing out some back story as well - was thinking about a lot of it on the weekend, and I think I’ve sorted out some more stuff.
Reading this draft, I still keep on being amazed at all the things that need fixing. And how much crap writing there is in it. Apologies to all of the beta readers who slogged through it!
Today’s progress:
Project: Shaede draft four
New words: 2,508
Total word count: 6,800
Goal: 100,000 words (or thereabouts)
Writing: More fixing and clarifying of backstory and removal of boring infodumps. Removed a few plotlines that didn’t really go anywhere and just detracted from the overall story. Two chapters down now.
Real life: Things accomplished today - cleaned the house from top to bottom, did two loads of laundry, dried them and put them away. Baked banana bread after realising how many frozen bananas I had in the freezer. As a result, the house smells delicious.
Total words for 2008: 279,118
