azhure: (me phoenix)

And so I inch back towards wellness, after a week of being knocked down by a particularly horrible flu.  I’m still not 100%, but felt well enough in general to start to tackle life again.

And so there was writing, to the tune of 1000 words.  Just scraping in with my quota, and it all came in fits and starts.  But it’s a beginning, and hopefully the gears of my brain will begin to work easier tomorrow.

The last week has been filled by much napping and much reading.  Highlights were reading the entirety of Trent Jamieson’s Deathworks trilogy, which was just awesome.  I kind of want to give a copy to everyone I know who enjoys urban fantasy, to be honest.  Just my kind of work through and through*.

I glutted myself over the weekend and today with Jo Anderton’s Debris.  Which was also incredibly awesome.  It’s been a while since I’ve read a fantasy that’s been so stunningly original.  I just finished it less than a half hour ago, and I’m already dying for the sequel.  So happy that there’s going to be more of this world.

The husband and I also got around to watching The Almighty Johnsons.   I wish there was more television like it – cleverly written, funny when it needed to be and well paced.  Where’s the next season already, dammit?

*Caveat here: The third book in the trilogy is eligible for an Aurealis Award for best horror novel, and I am one of the horror panel judges.  This is my personal opinion, and has nothing to do with the judging panel’s opinion.
