365days: Fluff!

This is what my life has expanded to include: an obsession with cloth nappies.
The left hand side contains all-in-ones and -twos as well as pocket nappies, mostly from Itti Bitti, Baby Beehinds and Green Kids. There should be some fitted nappies in there as well, but they’re currently in the nappy bucket. On the right hand side, liners and boosters in the back and covers in the front (mostly Thirsties).
There’s another drawer below this one which holds prefolds. And more nappies in another drawer which are currently too big for him (I’m stocking up on bigger sizes when I find good specials).
Words
Despite the fact that Liam’s been sleeping on and off all afternoon (he’s pretty much been awake for an hour then sleeping for an hour, rinse and repeat), and I’ve had time to get some work done, I haven’t done any writing. I have managed some reading, which is something. And I did contemplate some of my characters, which is also something. I may do some work on my character outlines if Liam stays asleep for a little while longer.

Date: 2010-02-04 09:28 am (UTC)I used cloth nappies for all my kids - one was allergic to everything plastic (including plastic pilchers, and the outside of disposable nappies), and with the others I just couldn't afford disposables anyway.
I've never seen prefolded before ... we just used to use the squares of towelling and fold them in different ways as the child grew ... and different ways for girls than for boys.
My favourite fold for small baby boys was this:
fold the square nappy in half to form a rectangle.
take one corner (ie, the left corner) of the top layer of nappy over to the other corner (the right corner). You now have a triangle on the top and a square underneath.
Turn the nappy over, keeping the corners together.
Using only the square part, fold a "roll" down the centre of the triangle.
Put the baby in the middle, fold the roll and point of the triangle up between the legs and the two other points of the triangle around to meet the roll. Pin through the top layers (put your fingers between baby and nappy so you don't accidentally stab him). Cover with pilchers or fluffy pants.

I won a daily spot prize in the Sept 09 one ('superhero' singlet for Bella) and there are some great discounts for hunters- I think GK usually has about 10% off. It's very addictive but oh so fun!

Date: 2010-02-05 06:46 am (UTC)I'm hanging out for the nappy hunt :) I didn't participate properly last year, but I did use the discount codes at a few places. I think this year I'm going to hunt! The main problem I have now is that there are too many nappy brands I love. The credit card might take a bashing.
