Just shadows that move 'cross the wall
Aug. 1st, 2008 04:35 pmAnother rainy, cold day where it’s been far more pleasant to be indoors with a laptop.
Slow writing day, though, for no real reason. I haven’t been sleeping too well this week, so that’s likely the culprit. I envy people who never have any problems sleeping. At the very least, it would be preferable to have the kind of insomnia where I could get up and do something. I end up drifting between sleep and wakefulness in a kind of zombie state instead.
Today’s progress:
Project: Shaede draft four
New words: 4,030
Total word count: 46,442
Goal: 100,000 words (or thereabouts)
Writing: Thirteen
chapters down. Chapter thirteen is particularly angsty, so kind of fun to write. I’m a horrible writer who likes torturing her characters too much. And it only gets worse from here on in. I’m still not sure how long the full draft is going to be – my best estimate is around 85k, which is acceptable. And also means that I will have cut about 20k. Ouch.
Real life: Our internet is currently shaped during offpeak hours, which means no useful net for me in the morning. Which is probably a good thing, since it stops me faffing about online when I should be doing other things. I baked this morning (zucchini muffins and oatmeal raisin cookies) and did some laundry and house cleaning. No walk, which I’m feeling the lack of right now.
Total words for 2008: 329,315
