Catching up
Aug. 6th, 2008 04:46 pmCatching up from yesterday. In a spectacular act of timing from the universe, I started to get sick last night. It’s just a cold, I think, stuffy nose and aches. I did manage to retain concentration fairly well today for most of my writing session, though my brains feel like cold mush right now.
I have a bunch of review work to catch up now as well. Thankfully, two of the three books I need to review quickly are light and should be an easy read. I need to start devoting more time to reading for reviews right now. Hell, I need more hours in the day.
Today’s progress:
Project: Shaede draft four
New words: 5,700
Total word count: 54,967
Goal: 100,000 words (or thereabouts)
Writing: I finished off the rest of yesterday’s chapter and did another one on top of that. I’m not entirely happy with it right now, to be honest. I feel like the end of the book needs a bit more fleshing out. I need to think on it a bit. I’m actually getting a bit worried about this book ending up being too short now, too. I still have a subplot that needs to be resolved properly, which may solve that problem. I also did some editing on a short story for publication today. Which I was afraid of looking at, since I wrote it a year or two ago. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
Real life: Sniffed and sneezed a lot. I did a little bit of gardening, just to get the body moving. I was planning on doing a little baking, too, but that didn’t happen.
Total words for 2008: 341,752
