Sometimes in between, you find peace
Oct. 4th, 2011 11:36 amYesterday was a rare, almost perfectly good day.
The human suit was still being a bit stubborn, with me being a little tired and feeling the effects of the cold that I’ve had (and miraculously managed to shake off after only getting the sniffles and a bit of a sore throat). I actually felt like I had some energy, and managed to clean the house and deal with All the Laundry. And still had some left over.
Writing went well: to the tune of 1,800 words and the finding of the end of the third chapter of this draft. To be fair, I am working in a section that’s fairly easy to revise.
The kidlet was in a glorious mood, too, and was really happy to play while I was cleaning (so long as I stopped every 15 minutes or so to give him cuddles – I have the cuddliest kid in the world, I think). And he had a good afternoon nap – 2 hours, which rarely happens these days. So I got to rest myself, and finish off the rest of Dead Reckoning. Which I am compiling my thoughts on so I can write up a review. I picked up Jo Walton’s Farthing, but haven’t gotten far into it yet.
I managed a short walk yesterday, though it was a great effort (I think the human suit is working hard on…something. Fighting this cold, or adjusting to new medication). I did get to listen to the end of the latest episode of Galactic Suburbia, in which I just loved Tansy and Alisa’s general honesty about everything. Both of you are such an inspiration to me, whether you know it or not. And I’m going to have to watch The Almighty Johnsons now, since Tansy has deemed it awesome. And Alisa has inspired me to get hold of the newest edition/translation of The Diary of Anne Frank, and to read along with her as she discovers Stephen King. I’ve read a lot of King, and am a big fan (though I do see his limitations), but there’s a lot of his seminal works that I haven’t read for a long time, or haven’t ever read.
Today I have rocked up feeling somewhat less than awesome. I think my body is just craving some rest, really. Which I shall give it, but first I must write.
